Question

After filing a police report for breaking and entering and theft how long do I have to press charges on the guilty person in the state of Colorado?

Answer

You can't except in a couple of very limited circumstances, unless you are talking about suing them for civil theft and property damage.

Once you report the crime, it is otherwise up to law enforcement and/or the local DA's office to decide whether or not to charge someone.

Answer

You cannot make that decision. The state government will make it for you.
