Question

My brother (49) and I (48) were born out of wedlock to parents who a few years later married and had 2 more kids. We were raised by my paternal grandparents (now both deceased), but never legally adopted. Parents never gave a penny for support. We were not told the truth--grew up told that father was brother and mom was sister-in-law. Only reason we ever found out was from HER family--at a wedding, no less... Father passed about 20 years ago, mother (and one child) still alive. Mother barely acknowledges my brother and I at all--no birthdays, no phone calls (to me). Do we (or at least I) have any recourse (i.e. 'pain and suffering' or similar) to sue this woman? She is quite well off now, due to inheritances, etc. Not for nothing, I have suffered from depression much of my life due to this and still want answers to questions which are not EVER answered. Needless to say, I feel very cheated--i have a living mother who pays no attention to anyone but her daughter, son-in-law and grandkids by them. She may not offer us any love and attention, but she sure understands money. If I can't have her, I'll take some money... What are my options? Thank you very much for your answer.

Answer

what claim do you have against her that a Court can deal with?
