Question

Will a Power of Attorney document be valid in California if it is executed and notarized in Paris, France. My daughter is in Paris and she wants to give me power of attorney to open an account and get an auto loan at a credit union so she can purchase her leased vehicle? Her auto lease expires in April and the leasing company will not extend it until she gets home on May 30th.

Answer

Yes, provided it clearly states that it is to be used for the California transaction. She should also be sure to use the U.S. embassy's servuces for this purpose to avoid any international law variables over the notary endorsement.
