My husband went for his arraingment in a domestic violence charge a couple of weeks ago. We have to go to court for the trial next month. He turned down counsel at his arraingment and I'm assuming is pleading not guilty, I'm not sure because I wasn't there. He is charged with the domestic violence against me, we have decided to work things out and try to mend our family. He has already enrolled in anger management classes and we are also getting ready to start seeing a marriage counselor. He knows that he made a mistake and is willing to do whatever is necessary to clear this up and hopefully not have a bad record. He was in the military for 10 years and is considering re-enlisting in a couple of years, will this stop him from doing that? He wants to go in as a mortician. What can I expect the judge to say to him? What punishment can he expect to recieve? The police that came on the day of the fight took my statement as well as got a picture of the back of my neck, which was slightly bruised from him ripping my shirt. I think that I have given all the details, please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer
Domestic (a/b) on family member - you can receive up to one year, 2500 fine or both.
You should have an attorney. These are some of the easier cases to beat. A guilty conviction can hurt his job opportunities in future. Good luck. Attorney Sheryl Shane. Web: www.sherylshanelaw.com.
