if our son was badly injured and most likely permenant disabilities for life by a neglegent driver, his auto limits of libility are not even close to covering medical bills, and doesn't have assets to sue over.My son can't work right now,and may not go back to past job.How is he going to support himself and pay back debts this man caused him?
What are his options?please tell me there are some reasonable justice somewhere in this state of oregon?
Answer
I do not handle cases like this, but the law firm of Kafoury McDougal in Portland does. You can reach them at 503-224-2647 or [email protected]/* */ They provide an initial consultation visit for you at no charge, and they usually take cases on a "contingency" basis, which means that you do not have to pay them, unless they succeed in obtaining money for you from the entity that harmed you.

You should have an in-office meeting with any good personal injury attorney as soon as you can. While we DO handle cases like your son's, at this time our plates are quite full, and we're in the midst of moving. I can also recommend a firm -- Lawrence & Ruff, LLC, at 503-224-1588.
Some options for your son: If the defendant driver was cited for any traffic CRIME, then you may be able to get some relief from the state Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, or Crime Victim's Compensation -- I'd talk to the District Attorney for the county in which this happened, and see if those are options. Every D.A. is supposed to have a crime victim's advocate. BUT, I wouldn't make ANY moves without first having a detailed in-office visit with a good personal injury lawyer. And, I'd do it very soon. Time limits can come into play which could bar a recovery, particularly if any local or state public body or an agent or employee of one has any liability.
And, who knows, there may be responsible parties BESIDES the driver who has no assets.
So sorry to hear what happened to your son. Best wishes to you and your family.
