Question

other family members have not paid taxes and other expenses on real estate since 1997. how can I claim the property since I have been paying the expenses?

Answer

File a partition suit in the local circuit court which likely

will result in a judicial order for sale of this property which

when sold may allow you to recoup from the proceeds

of such sale your disproportinate share of the expenses which

you've been paying for this property since 1997,

The other option would be for you to negotiate a buyout of the interests

in this property of these other family members, the price of which would take into account these disproportionate amounts which you've been paying

over the last fifteen years or so.
