regarding alimony, do you receive more if married more than 10 years?

Question

regarding alimony, do you receive more if married more than 10 years?

Answer

You would have a better chance of receiving (more) alimony, if any, after a long-term marriage as opposed to a shorter one. However, there are several other factors that the court considers as well. Thus, you will have to consult with a divorce attorney in much greater detail to get a better assessment of your particular case.

Answer

The answer is no. Alimony is based upon a number of factors, G.L. c 208 sec.34, including the ability to pay ( income) and need.

Answer

The length of the marriage is just one factor that the court would consider-there are many more factors that play a role. I would advise to check Massachusetts General Law chapter 208-section 34 or contact an attorney who could answer your questions fully.
