Question

I have a child who has been in my care his entire life with no involvement at all from the parents. How hard will it be for me to terminate parental rights and adopt under ca 1516.5? I've had perm guardianship for 2 years and the child has been with me since birth 3 years ago

Answer

This is a very complicated and emotionally charged area of the law. The more time that passes were the child has no contact with or financial support from the parents gives you a stronger case to ask for a termination of their parental rights and an adoption. I believe your situation justifies a review by an experienced family law attorney in an office consultation to best explore your legal rights.
