Who created the polar projection?
Al Biruni developed the theory of azimuthal equidistant projectionof which polar projection is a part. These maps are usually used todepict regions. Polar centered azimuthal projections show all linesof longitude by straight lines, and all lines of latitude asconcentric circles (parallels).
