Question

If a husband files bankruptcy and he is the policy holder for his family on their insurance, does this cover any medical bills outstanding in the wife name also ? She is not listed on the bankruptcy.

Answer

If you want a discharge of your debts (including joint debt), you will need to file bankruptcy yourself. The person who owns the insurance policy has nothing to do with it.

Answer

To discharge debts, a person has to be part of the bankruptcy. The insurance is irrelevant.
