Where do you put weight in your pickup for snow traction?
If your truck is RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) and you are looking to gain traction for the winter months, load up your bed with some weight. You may find it relatively inexpensive to purchase, or make a bunch of sand bags. Place the added weight over the rear axle (around wheel wells or in rear of bed, not by the cab.) The front of the truck has the weight advantage of the engine sitting on top of the wheels for traction, so the rear is your main concern. I suggest using sand bags, because not only are they an inespensive way to give your rear wheels more traction, but in the event you or someone elses is stuck you can simply cut one open and use the sand inside to assist with getting traction.

Remember, with the added weight in the back, the vehicles handeling charactristics will be changed significantly, give yourself plenty of space and time to get used to the feel of the extra weight.
