I recently was givin uniform traffic citation from DOT Toll by Plate for late payment on a toll charge. I mailed the payment a week before the final due date. I mailed payment on 10/6 and they said they received it on 10/17. due date was 10/13.

Am I responsible for the citation even though the mail service should have gotten it there on time?

Answer

I would have to see the postage date on the date you mailed and then the postage date on the date they received. Without evidence, I am afraid you are on the hook to pay.
