Question

I am currently in a lease of a four bedroom two story home. The house was advertised as central heating and air however after moving in we discovered that there are no air vents upstairs meaning that the upstairs has no heat or ac. It is only May and the average temperature upstairs is close to 100% leaving the two upstairs bedrooms unusable. I have requested something be done but after 2 months still nothing. Should I get a lawyer involved?

Answer

You can speak to an attorney. Unfortunately, air conditioning has not been declared a necessary item under NC law. So whether you can force some kind of repair or refund in rent is difficult to say. See an attorney to discuss all of the facts and determine if you have a case worth pursuing.
