I am going to retire at the end of July, 2014. I have my retirement resignation letter ready but, I am apprehensive about giving this much notice. I want to be fair and give my employer plenty of time to secure a qualified replacement.
Unfortunately, in my field, there is not much loyalty. I am concerned that they may
release me upon receipt of my resignation.
My question is: Do I have any legal recourse if i am unjustly released.
Answer
There is legal recourse if a person is discharged for employment for a unlawful reason. Assuming the sum involved is more than nominal, I suggest you confer with an attorney so she/he can provide you with a legal opinion as to your rights and options and provide you with guidance as to suggested action.
