90 model Plymouth acclaim 2.5 motor In park it idles good and when you put it in drive it dies or it doesnt have any power and when you put it in reverse it dies out What could the problem be?

90 model Plymouth acclaim 2.5 motor In park it idles good and when you put it in drive it dies or it doesnt have any power and when you put it in reverse it dies out What could the problem be?
Mass air flow sensor may be bad. Idle may be low caused by leaking or broken vacuum lines or dirty clogged throttle body and air filter. Idle air control valve may be sticking.I would try to first try to put engine in drive after you have removed the air cleaner box and filter.F. Garay
